At the same time, she also interrogates these theories against the chosen texts to see how adequate or appropriate these models are for analyzing texts from other cultures. This two-fold investigation sheds important new light on how the writers or editors of Arab women's autobiographies have written, documented, presented, and organized their texts.

Very good reference

i bought this book as I was taking a course on writing autobiography. i was interested in how arab women writers write autobiography. unfortunely, the book is not that throuogh. This is defintely because Golley is a pioneer in that trend of criticism: critising arab women writers who write autobiography. the book is for students and reserachers not interesting to the normal reader. It is a very good start for a researcher on arab women writers writing autobiography. Buy it only if you are student or researcher.

About the Author
Dr. Beam was born and raised in Orrville, Ohio. While in high school, he competed in football, wrestling and golf and played trumpet in the jazz band that toured the U.S. and Europe. He received his B.S. in biology from the College of Wooster, a small liberal arts college in Ohio. During his undergraduate study, he spent one summer in Vienna, Austria studying art history and German. He completed his graduate work and obtained his Ph.D. in exercise physiology from The Ohio State University. While a graduate assistant at Ohio State, he was responsible for performance testing of all the athletes including football, basketball, baseball, swimming, ice hockey and more. It was a wonderful experience working with so many talented collegiate, Olympic and future professional athletes. Dr. Beam joined the faculty at Cal State Fullerton in 1983 and the following year began directing the Exercise Physiology Lab and the Physical Performance Program. Under Dr. Beam's guidance, over fifty graduate students have completed their master's degrees and most are now active in the community working and teaching within the fitness/wellness profession. He also previously served as President of the Southwest regional chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (SWACSM), and as the regional chapter representative to the ACSM Regional Chapters Committee. Bill currently lives in Placentia, California with his wife Terri, who teaches Chemistry at Mt. San Antonio College, and their two children Danny and Sara. Bill has commuted primarily by bicycle during his time at CSUF and enjoys cycling, jogging, swimming and playing sports with the family.

Dr. Gene Adams is Faculty Emeritus of Kinesiology and Health Science at California State University at Fullerton.

Like a lot of other people I'm sure, I started wondering how medically accurate the show House M.D. is. This book helps to answer that question, quite well in fact. Nothing complex - it's a pretty simple read and helps to satisfy your curiosity about the show. Keep in mind, it may shatter your hopes if you think a doctor like House could actually exist (and be successful) in our medical field today. However, in contrast he gives good overall review of the terminology and actual medicine used on the show. Recommended read if you have more then a passing interest in House.

This book was a good start if you're interested in the science behind the popular TV series, "House."

My teenage son absolutely loved the book, and read it cover to cover before playing his new X-Box games at Christmas, which gives you an idea how much it appealed to him.

As an R.N. myself, I found the medical aspects of this book to be understandable, without talking over the head, or talking down to the casual reader. Where it falls down for me, is that Andrew Holtz is not a very charasmatic writer.

If only the book had the delivery of the series, this would have been a definite five-star read.

The book is a great idea for budding artists

The book is a great idea for budding artists. My only complaint is that the preview indicates a study in Pointillism, one of the attractions of this book, since it would be easy for a very young artist to do, but that study is not actually in the book. So perhaps it was an error on the preview, and is actually in her other books. I will likely return it at this time, but will purchase in the future as my child advances.

A must read for any educator.

Absolutely Terrific! A must read for any educator. It is well written and gives excellent advice on how to talk with the children, parents, and school to help create an atmosphere with a growth mindset. I sat down on a Friday night and continued to read until I finished the book. I woke up on Saturday and reread it so that I could highlight the book and take notes for myself. I am excited to have other teachers in my school read it so we can discuss how best to implement the idea in our school. Thank you Mary!
