A good resource!

Although the book title is for "Dummies" do not be fooled. It's well written and simple to understand. As a real estate instructor on 6 faculties, i have selected Robert Griswold's books in the past for my commercial real estate courses. This book is geared more for residential and hits the points from acquisition, legal entities, due diligence, property management, environmental issues, legal contracts, leasing and disputes. The book is co-authored with an attorney therefore there is legal input in this book as well. A good resource! I know Robert Griswold has authored other like-kind books and he is a Counselor of Real Estate, great knowledge.

Great book on property management

I found this well-written book on the topic of legal aspects of residential property management to be both a very interesting read, as well as extremely informative. The team of attorney, Laurence Harmon, and practitioner, Robert Griswold, combine their vast knowledge and experience to provide an insightful look for both new comers who buy investment real estate (or single homes or condos) to professional managers as well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone managing property - or who may be thinking about it.

Great source of information, tips and reminders for both the experienced and inexperienced investor/manager!

I, too, agree that this is not a book for dummies, but a serious in-depth discussion of all the relevant considerations in being an owner/landlord. As a property manager for more than 45 years, developer and owner/investor for almost forty years, I can't find a single important area not touched upon appropriately. Some things in it are specific to single-unit or multi-family housing. However, the great bulk of it is applicable to any property type. I highly recommend it to anyone who is contemplating either investing or pursuing a career in investment real estate. Even for the seasoned investor or experienced property managers, it provides helpful tips and reminders. I believe you'll find it will be worth many, many times its cost.
