Darek Klonowski is a professor of Business Administration at Brandon University, Canada. He has worked in the venture capital industry for over fifteen years. Vanessa Grant's love affair with writing fiction began during a protracted illness at the age of 12 when she decided to write a novel of her own, sitting up in bed using the typewriter she'd been given for her birthday. Not a computer, not an electric typewriter, but a then-state-of-the-art manual typewriter. The story, a romance, ground to a halt on page 50 but Vanessa never forgot the excitement of bringing her own characters to life. She later wrote three unpublished novels, developing her skills as a writer while living on a remote lighthouse during what she thinks of as her baby-making, basket weaving, beach-walking days.
�� In 1985 Vanessa's novel Pacific Disturbance was published in hardcover by Mills and Boon. She now has over 10 million books sold and has been translated into 15 languages. She also has written what one critic described as, "by far the best writing book I've ever read." a great read, interesting characters and a true to life story

I remember this book from the paperback {and how many books of romantic fiction can you say that about], and like all Vanessa Grant's characters I feel I know them. I care abut them, they interest me as people and I have met people like this and liked them and I want their lives to work out. Romantic fiction is based on fantasy but there must be reality to anchor it to life and make it strike a chord with the reader, this has the fantasy and reality in the perfect combination and makes a book I will read again [and again].

I'm a throw-back myself. I looooove alpha men who want to take care of their ladies. However, I'm also a modern woman who believes I should be able to choose my path based on what fulfills me. This book was great because I was able to identify with both of the main characters. Excellent storyline and character development--I couldn't help genuinely liking everyone in the book! I'm a big fan of Vanessa Grant and will continue to buy her books.

How to be organized and efficient in the workplace

The Personal Efficiency Program is exactly that, a program to help you get organized and stay organized so that you can get more done in less time. The overriding theme is to do things now and don't put them off. The book covers all the bases for organization from developing a routine, planning processes, following through, managing and maintaining. The area that it does not cover is the psychological factors in getting things done. For example, one of the books that I read noted that one of the problems with a "to-do" type list is that we tend to look at it and do the easiest or most fun things first. So, as a result our reward for completing one of the items on our "to-do" list is that we get a less desireable and more difficult task to do next. Rearranging the "to-do" list so that you do the most difficult and least fun things first you set yourself up for success because as a reward for doing the difficult item you get a less difficult item or more fun item to do. I know it is just playing games, but it does affect how well people get their "to-do" list completed. I wish that he had included research like that in the book in addition to all of the good ideas for organizing and keeping track of things.
This book is designed solely for the work environment and getting things organized and done at work. Still many of the items can be applied at home too. It is a good book and a good read with a program that works if you implement and practice it.

Practical, commonsense solutions to getting organised

This is a fantastic book - the best of its type I have read. Gleeson writes in a sane, sensible way about how to organise yourself to get more done. His solution? Do It Now. Before you say: "That's obvious" how many of you do it consistently? Not many, and the reason, from my experience, is that we are rarely organised to do it other than later!! Gleeson fills in the gaps by showing you how to physically organise yourself and your workspace so that you can put the Do It Now principle into regular and continuing operation. Trust me - this book is a lifesaver!!

This book really inspired me to clean up my act at work. I always say that I have better things to think about than where is the proper place to put a particular item...but I followed the instructions in this book and got everything in order and it has definitely made me more efficient, as well as improving my professional image. I've been following the other advice and in just the first week of putting it into practice I have received a lot of compliments from the people I work with/for, which has inspired me to work even more on improving my personal efficiency through this program!

Zeiler (Ph.D., University of Massachusetts-Amherst) is professor of history at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he teaches American diplomatic history, modern U.S. history, World War II, and American history through baseball. His works include Free Trade, Free World: America and the Advent of GATT, Globalization and the American Century, Annihilation: A Global Military History of World War II, and Ambassadors in Pinstripes: The Spalding World Baseball Tour and the Birth of the American Empire. He is editor of the journal Diplomatic History and a past president of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations.

About the Author
Shelley E. Taylor is professor of psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. in social psychology from Yale University. Her research interests are in health psychology, especially the factors that promote long-term psychological adjustment, and in social cognition. In the former capacity, she is the co-director of the Health Psychology program at UCLA. Professor Taylor is the recipient of a number of awards―most notably, the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Contribution to Psychology Award, a 10-year Research Scientist Development Award from the National Institute of Mental Health, and an Outstanding Scientific Contribution Award in Health Psychology. She is the author of more than 200 publications in journals and books and is the author of Social Cognition and Positive Illusions.
