Has ways to go

While the neurology section of this review is quite good, the general critical care questions are written amateurish. Not only are some of the questions nonsensical, with obvious lack of proof reading, but some of the answers are plainly wrong. The weakest part of the book is section on Cardiovascular Physiology where above mentioned examples abound, even though the whole section only has 15 questions total. High quality, professional proofing of questions is a major problem for reviews that tackle topics where good quality data and literature are lacking, however, exhibiting this level of inaccuracy with a topic that is straightforward and quite mathematical is inexcusable.

Not ready for prime time

As another customer noted, the first half of the book is really good: That is the Neuro-critical half.The questions are well written, logical and the answers can be validated on the basis of current guidelines/data. The second half (the General critical care section) is a complete disaster. I'm trying not to be rude here, but the some of the sections are really pathetic. The respiratory section needs to be re written. These questions are far from the rigorous standards of ABMS/ABIM. The Infectious disease section would be aced by a 2nd year IM resident.
In spite of the above issues, I did think the first half of the book alone made it worth my money. For a non neurologist, this is a great starter book along with 2 books by Dr Elco Wijdicks. (Look them up on amazon.com). I would advice the author/editor to include subspecialists (Cards/Pulm/ID)on her panel to write/edit relevant sections.

Very good, well written and organized.

I have done about half of the questions so far and find them to be a very nice review of the topics. The explanations are well written with references. Thought-provoking questions. I am a fellowship-trained neurointensivist.
